GE HealthCare furthers its commitment to women’s health ultrasound with the next evolution of its AI-enabled Voluson Performance series
Built on the strength of the Voluson portfolio, Voluson Performance 18 and 16 enable streamlined scanning through high-resolution imaging, advanced tools and intuitive design, empowering clinicians to make quick, confident decisions
CHICAGO — September 15, 2025— GE HealthCare (Nasdaq: GEHC) today announced the launch of the Voluson™ Performance series, the latest addition to its leading women’s health ultrasound portfolio. Designed to deliver detailed imaging and simplify workflow with artificial intelligence (AI) and automation tools, the new Voluson Performance 18 and 16 offers clinicians modern, innovative technology to assist with efficient care across a wide range of applications.
“The Voluson Performance series builds on a legacy of innovation, combining Voluson imaging technology with intuitive design and AI-powered tools designed to simplify exams, save time and support efficient, consistent care delivery,” said Gerald Seifriedsberger, General Manager, Women’s Health Ultrasound, GE HealthCare. “By putting powerful, advanced solutions in the hands of providers, we’re helping expand access to high-quality women’s health imaging and advance a healthier future for women.”
Maternal mortality remains a critical global health challenge, with an estimated 700 women dying each day from maternal causes worldwide.[i] This underscores the urgent need for timely care and more advanced diagnostic tools in women’s health.[i] As healthcare systems face growing demands for efficiency and accuracy, the Voluson Performance series offers a trusted solution designed to help clinicians deliver better outcomes for patients.
The Voluson Performance series is tailored to support clinicians in efficiently acquiring detailed, high-quality images. Features such as Autolive make automatic gain adjustments for improved image uniformity and when combined with Shadow Reduction, aim to provide clear and consistent imaging across exams. Additionally, the ultrasound systems prioritize user experience and comfort with:
A comprehensive probe portfolio that offers exceptional imaging in 2D and 3D and versatility, developed to meet the evolving needs of women’s health imaging.
Integrated wireless Vscan Air™ probes supporting convenient bedside scanning and interventional use.
An updated touch panel interface, which provides a seamless, intuitive workflow, and voice activated “Hey Voluson” feature for hands-free control, reducing keystrokes and streamlining exams.
With smart AI and automation tools built into the system, the Voluson Performance series is designed to simplify measurements, anatomy identification, and reporting—helping save time, reduce user fatigue, and support clinicians across experience levels.[ii] The SonoLyst suite of tools identify fetal anatomy seen on standard views and then automatically annotate and measure, where applicable, and with SonoLystlive images can be captured in real time. Clinicians can also reduce the keystrokes to complete routine International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISOUG) second trimester exam views by up to 65% with SonoLyst.[ii] In addition, features like SonoPelvicFloor use guided workflow and AI to help users achieve consistent, reproducible exam results up to 75% faster. [ii] These intelligent tools, integrated into the Voluson Performance series, are built to advance women’s health imaging by supporting workflow efficiency and enhancing accessibility.
As a gynecologist specializing in reproductive medicine, the Voluson Performance series makes it remarkably simple to do a 3D scan,” said Dr. Arne van Heusden, Gynecologist, The Randstad, Netherlands. “My colleagues are surprised by how easily we can do 3D imaging, and the system is extremely intuitive, which is one of its best features.”
The recently U.S. FDA 510(k)-cleared and CE Marked technology will be showcased at the 35th ISUOG World Congress on Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology on September 14-17, 2025, in Cancun, Mexico. The Voluson Performance 18 and 16 will be available in key countries around the globe. For more information, visit: https://www.gehealthcare.com/products/ultrasound/voluson/voluson-performance18.
